Six Essential Human Needs
I talk a lot about Human Needs Theory. When we can think of almost all human behavior as a way to meet one of six needs, it’s a lot easier to understand why people do what they do. With understanding, we can more easily access compassion for ourselves and others. We can brainstorm ideas for meeting needs in healthy ways rather than make ungenerous judgments.
In the upcoming True Freedom series, there will be a section on the Six Human Needs, which will include exercises on how to meet needs in a way that elevates. It will also include communication techniques that give us more understanding for others.
In the next six weeks we’ll explore the needs more fully. In no particular order of importance they are: Love/Connection Certainty Variety Significance Growth Contribution

Start to think about how someone could meet each of the needs in a way that is healthy and in a way that could be unhealthy.
